Barber Quarters were issued from 1892 to 1916. This new design replaced the Seated Liberty Quarter, which had been in place for over fifty years. The Barber Quarter was designed by Charles E. Barber. The obverse of the coin features a rendition of Liberty wearing a Phygian cap. The reverse features an eagle symbolizing the nation’s might. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other. Over the course of the Barber Quarter series, coins were minted at Philadelphia, Denver, New Orleans, and San Francisco. There are three key date commonly associated with the series. These are the 1896-S, 1901-S, and 1913-S coins.
